J. Brooks Leahy has practiced in the areas of general business law, real estate and civil litigation for more than 40 years. He has represented businesses and individuals in a broad range of matters including commercial disputes, contract drafting and review, leases and commercial real estate transactions, personal injury litigation, and all aspects of business entity formation and administration. His practice also involves administrative law matters including land use and zoning and matters before the liquor board. Mr. Leahy also serves as a private mediator in a wide variety of disputes.
Mr. Leahy is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.S.) with honors in Economics, and he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law with honors in 1976. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Rules of Practices and Procedure of the Court of Appeals of Maryland from 2004 through 2013. Mr. Leahy is a Member of the Carroll County Bar Association, where he served as President from 1996-1997. Mr. Leahy is a Member of the Maryland State Bar Associations and the Maryland Bar Foundation. He has served as a settlement officer for the Circuit Court for Carroll County since 2006, and as a mediator for the District Court of Maryland from 2009 through 2015. Mr. Leahy is rated A-V Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.
